Now Hiring: Executive Director
Lead the Movement for Racial Justice in Spokane
NAACP Spokane is seeking a visionary, community-rooted leader to become our first-ever paid Executive Director. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of civil rights work in our region as we transition from an all-volunteer model to a sustainable, staffed organization.

Thanks to a generous grant from the Inatai Foundation, this position is fully funded for three years—with additional funding already secured for future staff support. What You’ll Do
As Executive Director, you will work hand-in-hand with our all-volunteer Executive Committee to ensure the core functions of our branch align with National NAACP standards. Your responsibilities will span three key areas:

Organizational Operations

Collaborate with the EC President, Treasurer, and Secretary to maintain strong governance

Oversee budgeting, finances, and reporting

Organize membership and committee meetings

Support major events like our annual Freedom Fund Banquet
-
Develop internal systems and policies to support long-term sustainability
Membership & Fundraising

Grow and engage our membership base in collaboration with the Membership Chair
-
Track, manage, and acknowledge donations
-
Support grant writing and fundraising opportunities
-
Serve as the first point of contact for membership inquiries and donor relations
Community Engagement & Civil Rights Response

Represent NAACP Spokane in coalitions, media, and public events

Manage and triage incoming civil rights complaints
-
Strengthen relationships with funders and partner organizations

Help expand the team by hiring additional staff to support administrative and community work
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will be deeply committed to racial justice and possess experience in nonprofit leadership, community outreach, and systems-building. Additional qualifications include:

Strong communication and relationship-building skills

Experience working with or managing nonprofit boards

Comfort with public speaking and community visibility

Ability to manage competing priorities with transparency

Knowledge of fundraising, budgeting, and volunteer engagement
Tech familiarity a plus:

Kindful, Google Workspace, MailChimp, QuickBooks Online, Zoom, and Owl Camera systems.
Position Details
Location: Spokane, WA (Hybrid — office space available in the Community Building, WFH permitted)
Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience
